The Best Ever Alaskan Cruise Experience

Cruise to Alaska is perfect for cruisers, with numerous opportunities to appreciate its vast natural beauty. Sail along the Inside Passage to visit the immense ice formations. North to the Kenai Peninsula and nearby Anchorage, a perfect jumping-off point for cruise tours to Denali, Fairbanks, and Canada’s Yukon.

We went with our friends and business partners to celebrate being in business together for over a decade. We used Travelocity to book our trip and we all got an amazing rate. This cruise along the coast of Alaska was a nice reward for the hard work. Here are a few of our favorite stopping places.

White Pass Railway

If your cruise ship stops over in Skagway, you’ll find an old gold rush boomtown community. Although you can easily spend the day exploring Skagway, a ride on the White Pass Railway travels up into the mountains and provides excellent scenic views and a look at the route the gold miners took on their way to the goldfields in the Yukon. Some White Pass combination rail and bus excursions include a stop at the Yukon Suspension Bridge for a great photo opportunity.

Glacier National Park

All of the National Parks in the United States is worthy of a visit, and Glacier Bay is one that can best be viewed from a ship. The unspoiled, glorious mountain scenery, glaciers, and wildlife like sea lions and bears make this park a memorable destination.

Helicopter Ride

You can take a helicopter ride to enjoy some exciting scenario. It is an exciting adventure almost anywhere in the world, but zipping over an icy glacier field in Alaska is quite exhilarating.

Dog Sledding

Do you love to go dog sledding in the snow in August? Yes, you can if you take a helicopter ride up to a summer training camp for sled dogs. This was one of my favorite shore excursions ever.

Cruise Misty Fjords

It is near Ketchikan but is only viewable via plane or boat. This magnificent area is too far south for glaciers, but tourists get to the results of these icy giants that were in the area eons ago.

Sitka

Sitka is the only Inside Passage settlement to face the Pacific Ocean. This town is home to about 9,000 people and has a rich Russian heritage, with many cultural and historical destinations to see. There are also plenty of scenic hiking trails and walking routes.

Tracy Arm Fjord

Tracy Arm Fjord is located near Juneau; it is fantastic natural scenery and an abundance of wildlife, including harbor seals, wolves, seabirds and brown bears. See lush forests, cascading waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and some of the most massive glaciers in all of Alaska.

Disneyworld Attractions You Should Try and See

Disneyworld is the first of two theme parks built at the Florida. It is the only theme park designed and built to completion under the direct supervision of Walt Disney.

Nemo Submarine Voyage

This is a relatively long attraction with some impressive sets and detail. The wait times can be long, the queue is incredibly boring, and there’s no FastPass, but the payoff is well worth the boring wait, especially for Finding Nemo fans.

Pirates of the Caribbean

It is a boat-ride back in time to the days when pirates ruled the Caribbean. The places feature Audio-Animatronics pirates engaging in swashbuckling mayhem. This is the most famous attractions at Disneyworld.

Indiana Jones Adventure

This is a thrilling ride aboard a transport vehicle deep into the Temple of the Forbidden Eye on a daring journey in search of unimaginable rewards. Along the way you’ll incur the wrath of Mara, who will force you to encounter caverns of bubbling death, screaming undead mummies, erupting lava, evil wraiths, and giant snakes.

Everything about this attraction is excellent. This attraction is incredibly famous and routinely has long waits, making it a great use of FastPass.

Space Mountain

It is a dark rollercoaster through space. After going on a nearly two-year hiatus while the Hyperspace Mountain Star Wars overlay was added, the classic attraction is back! There’s some cooling theming here, a blast-off tunnel, and on-board music to spice up the experience. This is a FastPass attraction, and it’s highly recommended that you utilize it.

Haunted Mansion

No further explanation should be necessary; if you aren’t familiar with the premise of the Haunted Mansion, you’re probably living under a rock. Die-hard Haunted Mansion fans will disagree, but the vast majority of guests won’t notice many differences. It’s awesome.

Matterhorn

This rollercoaster through the yeti-guarded mountain is an enchanting place that most guests will enjoy a lot. The Matterhorn received some new show scenes that are relatively cool. FastPass is now available at the Matterhorn, and it’s a good use of FastPass to avoid long waits.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

This attraction is a hybrid film and Audio-Animatronics performance by the famous U.S. President. It incorporates some of the best elements of Hall of Presidents and the American Adventure at Walt Disney World, including my personal favorite, the song “Golden Dreams.” Many guests, mostly communists, find this attraction annoying.

Jungle Cruise

Jungle Cruise is a boat ride through the rivers of Adventureland that encounters hippos, lions, and piranhas, among other animals and natives, along the way. However, the real highlight here is the non-stop zingers of the skippers who pilot the boats.

Fantasmic!
